Low Temperature Performance and Durability of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells with Titanate Based Fuel Electrodes Using Reformate Fuel

The Ni/YSZ composite electrode is conventionally used for solid oxide cells, in electrolysis (SOEC) as well fuel cell (SOFC) operation. For enhanced electrochemical performance at low temperature, mechanical durability, and impurity tolerance, alternative materials configurations are required. In this paper we have studied a metal supported (MSC) with titanate based (La 0.4 Sr Fe 0.03 Ni Ti 0.94 O 3 , LSFNT) its using carbon containing compared to state of the art (SoA) electrode. hydrogen fuel, cells showed similar intermediate temperatures (750 °C 650 °C), although ASR slightly higher MSC all steam/hydrogen ratios. Additionally, fair initial reformate type compositions (CO/steam CO/steam/hydrogen), i.e. possesses activity water gas shift reaction, which opens possibility use such hydrocarbon fuels after pre-reformer. Durability testing pre-reformed revealed that further tailoring required minimize degradation fuels.
